WE NEED YOUR BOOKS!!!Our project depends on donated books to survive. We receive donations from publishers, bookstores and individuals. We will gladly accept new or used books, especially paperbacks (many prisons do not allow hardcover or spiral–bound books). The most requested topics include drug and alcohol recovery issues, English and Spanish language dictionaries, fiction and non–fiction by people of color, queer fiction and non–fiction, abuse issues, health, arts and crafts and mystery/horror novels. If you live in the Twin Cities area, you may drop books off anytime at our partner book store Boneshaker Books in south Minneapolis. Boneshaker is open from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. every day (address below). If you live outside the Twin Cities area, you may mail your donations to:
Women's Prison Book Project
c/o Boneshaker Books
2002 23rd Ave S.
Minneapolis, MN 55404
Tell the Post Office that you want to mail your package at Media Mail rate, which is much cheaper than First Class. Before donating a large number of books (more than 100), please contact us so we can process the donation efficiently. Cash donations for postage or books can be made by check payable to the Women's Prison Book Project, or online through GiveMN.org (search for Womens Prison Book Project with no apostrophe).
If you or your organization wishes to hold a dictionary or other book drive for WPBP, please contact us.
If you would like to solicit donations from book publishers directly on WPBP's behalf, please see our the publisher solicitation document at the bottom of this page.
